Flowing Through

Leon and Wu Long circled one another warily, each sizing the other up. Wu Long could easily take him in a less then human form but hesitated to do so wanting the victory to be cleanly his. He could smell the confidence reeking from the human, brash and pervasive. Leon wasn't the least bit afraid of the dragon man and it showed in his stance. Wu Long threw the first blow and took the first block but then had to quickly parry several rapid attempts by Leon to break his defense. The human moved quicker then his size indicated would be possible and had an uncanny ability to direct his hits. Wu Long shoved him off to gain more room to maneuver around the long arms and legs. He swiped his blades a few times coming close to slicing the detective but missing on all occasions. Wu Long growled in the back of his throat in vexation and struggled to gain the upper hand in the battle. It had been ages, literally, since anyone had given him a solid fight and it aggravated him to not be able to put him down as he had many others. He hissed and slid back narrowly avoiding the thin edge of Leon's weapon in a misplaced advance that had left him open and vulnerable.

"Very sure of yourself aren't you Mr. Orcot?" The question sizzled between Wu Long's compressed lips, frustration marring his face. Leon's only response was a twisted grin and a slight shrug of his shoulders. Wu Long attacked in sharp driven jabs designed to drive his opponent back and against the wall. Leon neatly sidestepped and spun round catching him across the break of his shoulders with his elbow. Wu Long turned in his stance to keep Leon from being on his backside and discovered that it was now he that was backed against the wall. Wu Long snarled, his nostrils flaring, wanting very badly to crush the man's throat in his hand. Leon smirked and feinted a blow, egging him on. It was then that Wu Long smelled the blood, too much blood to be any nick coming from the human, and close. His eyes dilated as he recognized at least one of his guard's scents. A guard he had last left to watch over Daniel.

Leon paused in his attack and carefully withdrew watching the glaze swim over his opponent's eyes. He felt Jiaoshu pushing against their bond urgently. Keeping a careful eye on Wu Long, Leon opened the pathway letting in the wash of distress coming from his mate. Alan and Daniel were both missing, taken by the kami known as Webber, the images replaying inside his mind as seen by Daniel and thus Jiaoshu of their captures. Leon inhaled sharply at the vivid images of Alan suspended helpless in the air and Webber's subsequent assault. He was snapped out of it by the high wailing coming from Wu Long, ripping through his nervous system and making his ears ring. Leon stared at him mouth agape, shocked by the unexpected display of loss and sorrow. Wu Long babbled in Chinese nearly incoherent thoughts and threats at those that had taken him. Leon grabbed him by his shoulders and shook him hard trying to get his attention.

"Come on, stop it..this won't help either of us." Leon gave him a final shake before pushing him back Wu Long growled menacingly.

"Where is he, human?" Wu Long ground out the muscles in his jaw twitching.

"How the hell should I know? It was your stupid doctor that took him and my cousin, not me." Leon retorted quickly wanting to just shoot the idiot and be done with it but needing any information he might have.

"Webber? He's loyal to me, you're lying, he would never touch what is mine." For an answer Leon cocked one eyebrow and crossed his arms. Wu Long fumed at him silently the cords on his neck standing out. He wanted to believe his own words but doubt settled in his mind. There is no honor among thieves and no loyalty that cannot be bought or feigned. He sniffed the air again letting his tongue flick out to taste each scent. Light but unmistakable the dry, almost rotten signature of Webber could be identified among the stronger overlays of gore and freshly cut meat. Wu Long exhaled slowly letting the betrayal soak in and the fear of what Webber would do. He looked at the man in front of him and opened his senses and empathy to him. Honest, unflinching, compassionate, honorable, zealous, direct and blunt each one of Leon's main characteristics imprinted on him defining all the man was. Wu Long contemplated his alternatives and came to the same conclusion he was sure the detective had already made, whether they wanted each other dead or not they stood a better chance as a partnership of recovering them.

"It seems we both have reasons to find the good doctor. May I suggest we join forces?" He asked quietly. Wu Long had very little ground to stand on and the others were coming closer. The woman kami and her two male descendents approached each drawn to Leon. He could also detect Eros with the one who had promised his son to him. Eros's life signature was weak and erratic further confirming Webber's involvement. He had left the boy behind to die apparently. Wu Long held a pensive breath and waited. The others came together merging in the hall way each one coming to stand silently by the human, Eros held close in the second D's arms. Wu Long eyed each of them in turn. None had reason to care if he lived or died and if the roles were reversed he would take the information he needed by force and discard of the bodies. The tension in the room mounted steadily four sets of eyes boring into his skull.
